How do I change or recover my DIC email password?

If you know your current mailbox password, use the mailbox management link supplied by DIC, where available. If you have forgotten it, use the DIC client area, the recovery service if your account is eligible, or ask support for an owner-verified reset.

This guide covers DIC-hosted mailboxes. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace use their own password and recovery processes.

I know my current password

If DIC has provided a Usermin mailbox management link for your domain:

  1. Open that exact HTTPS link. Ask support for your domain's link if you do not have it. Do not guess a server address or continue past a certificate warning.
  2. Sign in with your mailbox username and current mailbox password, not your DIC client-area password.
  3. Open Change Password and follow the prompts to set a strong, unique password.
  4. Wait for confirmation before updating your email apps.

Usermin availability and the link depend on your hosting setup. There is no single customer-domain URL that works for every mailbox. If you have not been given a working link, use the client-area option below or contact support.

I have forgotten my password

Option 1: DIC client area

The authorised hosting account holder can sign in at https://shop.dic.net/clientarea.php and choose Reset Email Password. Follow the prompts for the relevant mailbox. If the mailbox or option is not available, contact support.

Your client-area login is separate from your mailbox login. Staff should not share the company's billing login just to change an email password. Ask the account holder or support to help instead.

Option 2: Email recovery service

Visit https://reset.dic.net and follow the recovery prompts. For eligible accounts, verification goes to the registered hosting contact email, which may be different from the mailbox you are resetting. You must be able to receive that verification message. This option is not available for every hosting setup.

If the contact address is wrong, inaccessible, or the mailbox is not recognised, contact support. Do not keep requesting codes or send a verification code to support.

If your supplied Usermin page offers Forgot Password, it requires a recovery address already configured for that mailbox. Do not assume one has been set up. Without an accessible recovery address, use another option above or contact support.

Option 3: Support-assisted reset

Contact care@dic.net with the affected email address and domain. DIC will verify the account owner's authority before helping with a reset. Do not send your current or new password to support.

Can I change it in webmail?

Some DIC webmail pages have a Change email password link that opens the DIC client area. This is a link to the portal, not a password change inside webmail. Do not rely on a direct Roundcube password setting; use one of the options in this guide.

After the password changes

Only after the server confirms the change, update the saved password everywhere that uses this mailbox: Outlook, phones, tablets, webmail, and any approved device or application that sends email through it. Update both incoming mail and outgoing SMTP authentication where stored separately, then test sending and receiving.

Changing a saved password in an email app does not change the password on the server. The old password stops working after a successful reset.

An alias is another address for the same mailbox, not a separate password. Use the underlying mailbox login and its new password. A separate mailbox has its own password.

Never bypass a certificate warning, share passwords or verification codes, or delete and recreate your mailbox to fix a password problem.
